Head’s up for drivers who need to travel Highway 20 at I-94 overnight Monday and/or Tuesday: the road will be completely closed between the east and west frontage roads.

Specifically, the road will be closed from 9 p.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday and from 9 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Drivers can still exit, but they will only be allowed to turn right from both the north- and southbound exit ramps. Entrance ramps in both directions will be closed.

Travelers who need to go north should take the frontage roads to Highway K, and anyone needing to go south should continue using Highway 11 or Highway KR entrances.

Highway C can be used as an alternate route to get around the closures.

The southbound lanes at Highway 20 have been diverted since March to the northbound overpass while the south overpass was taken down for total reconstruction. The same work was down on the northbound lanes last year.

The Highway 20 interchange project costs $23 million and is one of 17 that will be addressed during the multi-year, $1.7 billion expansion of I-94 from downtown Milwaukee to the Wisconsin-Illinois border.
