Construction crews are getting ready to move southbound traffic onto the eastbound (south) bridge, drivers who travel Highway 20 need to stay alert about upcoming lane closures.

From 6 a.m. Monday until 6 a.m. Friday, Washington Avenue will be down to one lane in each direction between the east and west frontage roads.

The northbound (west) I-94 on ramp will also close this week. Drivers will need to use the Highway K on ramp between 9 a.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Friday.

Work on the Highway 20 interchange costs $23 million and is part of the multi-year, $1.7 billion expansion of I-94 from downtown Milwaukee to the Wisconsin-Illinois border. Construction on the interchange is expected to wrap up later this fall, depending on the weather and the availability of materials.

While crews are moving southbound traffic back to their proper lanes, motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during the switch.
