Motorists who use Washington Avenue to travel back and forth to the expressway and points in between might want to take alternate routes this week.

Crews will begin Monday repaving the intersections of Highways 20 and H and Highway 20 and 90th Street. Most of the work will take place during the middle of the day when traffic is reduced, and both intersections will stay open while the repaving is underway.

Work on Washington Avenue between the railroad overpass and 90th Street got underway earlier this year and is expected to wrap up by Nov. 15 weather permitting.

The scope of work entails milling, paving, storm sewer crossings and moving signal cabinets; intersection improvements including wider and better marked turn lanes and new traffic signals where applicable.
