Travel headaches for drivers using I-94 will multiply starting Thursday when the the Highway 20 northbound ramps close until mid-summer.

Closures are expected to go into effect around 9:30 p.m. and last until July at least.

The work on the Highway 20 interchange is part of a multi-year, $1.9 billion project to widen I-94 to four lanes from downtown Milwaukee to the Wisconsin-Illinois border. Highway 20 is just one of 17 interchanges being improved during the course of the project.
