In a 339 to 214 vote count, Village Trustee Jayme Hoffman defeated incumbent president Steve Jansen for leadership of the Sturtevant Village Board.

Hoffman said he was “excited” about the result.

“A lot of hard work went into this campaign,” he said.

He hopes to simply provide a fresh face and new leadership for the board as president, he said.

“I’m not saying that I’m gonna change everything,” he said. “I’m not gonna change the world.”

Still, he concedes he is one seat on a board with six other trustees.

“A president can try to persuade an agenda but you still have to have your board members on board,” he said.

Jansen declined to comment. Still, Hoffman thanked Jansen for his years of service.

“He represented this village with a lot of love and devotion I wish him the best of luck,” he said.
