Most area residents will have piles of garbage and recycling once Christmas Day comes to a close. Here’s the pick-up schedule for where you live and what else is open (or closed) over the next couple of days:
City of Racine:
No garbage or recycling collection either Wednesday or Thursday. Normal schedule resumes Friday and Wednesday collections will have their trash picked up Friday as well.
Villages of Caledonia, Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant:
No solid waste collection Thursday; all collection will shift by a day. Thursday collection will be Friday, and Friday collection will be Saturday.
Government offices: Closed Wednesday and Thursday; reopen Friday during regular business hours.
Post office: Closing early Wednesday, closed Thursday, reopen Friday during regular business hours.
BUS service: Last routes leave transit center at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, there is no service Thursday. Routes resume Friday.
Banks: Check with personal financial institutions for Wednesday hours, all are closed Thursday and reopen Friday.
