Racine County residents braved the cold Saturday night to attend the holiday parade and tree lighting ceremony in downtown Racine.

Still, a number of floats glittered and glistened as people lined up the streets of Main Street. Children cheered and waited anxiously for candy. The evening called for bundling up, the shoulder to shoulder warmth of a neighbor or family member, and hot cocoa.

But for the hearty-Christmas-loving-types, the evening was magical. And for downtown-area merchants, the Christmas shopping season has begun.
