Your first days at a new job can be nerve-wracking and overwhelming, and you don’t want to start your new career on the wrong foot. These tips for how to make a good first impression at work will help you curb those first-day jitters and show your new employers that you’re ready to shine in your new position.
Dress to impress
Dressing to impress during your first few days at a new job is always best, even in relaxed offices where the dress code is more casual. Ask about the office dress code prior to your first day and err on the side of caution when planning your outfit. Your clothing should make you appear polished and professional while allowing you to be comfortable and to show a bit of your personal style. Putting effort into your appearance is a subtle way to show your employer that you’ll also put effort into your new job.
Make a good first impression the moment you step in the door by arriving to work a few minutes early. This will show your new employer that you’re a go-getter and that you value the time of your coworkers. You should also pay attention to the company’s unspoken rules about punctuality.
