Incumbent Sturtevant Trustee John Johnson retained his lead Wednesday after a recount challenger Michelle Duchow requested.
The vote totals changed by one; 369 for Johnson and 368 for Duchow. When the polls closed on election night, Duchow was in the lead, 367 to 366.
Duchow asked for the recount after the village’s Board of Canvass last Friday revealed that Johnson gained two votes from absentee ballots received after April 7, bringing totals to 368 for Johnson and 367 for Duchow.
It is unclear if Duchow will further pursue any action. According to state statute, she has five days to file a petition in Racine County Circuit Court.
Messages for Duchow have not been returned. We will update this story when/if we hear from her.
