Racine Police investigator Mark Sorensen found his K-9 partner Cheeto dead at his home Tuesday, July 7, according to officials with the Racine Police Department.

K-9 Cheeto worked on the street crimes unit for nine years. He was set to retire in November. While Cheeto’s death appeared to be from natural causes, he recently had a physical and no significant problems were discovered.

The dog was trained at Alabama Canine and was a “valued member of our family and will be missed,” according to the press release.
