Fans of Kiss the Cook will be able to dig into their favorite dishes starting today.
The restaurant officially reopened at 6 a.m. in Sturtevant at 9225 Durand Avenue. The announcement Sunday was met with enthusiasm on Facebook.
“I’ll be there tomorrow,” Joy Gunter posted.
Tony Lutkus said it was about time, and Celia Piper said simply, “Yay! Yay! Yay!”
Kiss the Cook was originally located at the corner of Taylor and Durand Avenues but owners Kookie and Robery Niemiec – Sturtevant natives and residents – wanted to move the business into the village. They closed their Racine eatery in July 2014 and started renovating the new site. Home previously to Valentia’s Pizzeria, the building was already outfitted for a restaurant but needed some work.
It’s been a long wait for diners who have missed Kiss the Cook’s signature homemade dishes using fresh ingredients.
“Yay!! We have missed you. Can’t wait to see all of you,” Angela Eastman Tingwald wrote on the Kiss the Cook Facebook page.
Customers should make note of hours for opening week:
6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Tuesday
6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday
The restaurant’s regular hours will go into effect next week:
6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday
