Racine police have confirmed at least one person was shot at noon Wednesday in a shooting at the Racine Transit Center on State Street.

A male victim was transported to Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary’s for treatment.

Scanner chatter indicates one person may be in custody and another may have fled the scene.

Officers closed down 6th Street just west of Marquette when a suspect was located there and reportedly threw the weapon used in the shooting into the river below.

Police are asking that anyone with information leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at (262) 636-9330, or by texting RACS plus the message to CRIMES (274637) and referring to Tipsoft I.D. #TIP417 with your text message.
