**Editor’s Note: This Letter to the Editor was sent to Racine County Eye by Mount Pleasant President candidate Jerry Garski.
Mark Gleason and the current leadership of the Village of Mt. Pleasant are proving once again they do not need or want the input of taxpayers. The future of public education in our community is not something to be taken lightly.
Leaders in both Caledonia and Sturtevant decided to ask taxpayers their thoughts on funding a feasibility study to break away from RUSD through a referendum question on the April ballot. The people will decide.
Instead, Mark Gleason and his trustee majority in Mt. Pleasant are acting as a dictatorship and bypassing public input altogether, potentially moving forward with a study that could cost tens of thousands of dollars.
Only Mark Gleason will decide and that is unacceptable.
The people of Mt. Pleasant have the right to have a say in how their tax dollars are spent and a leadership that listens to them.
Candidate, Mount Pleasant Village Board
