A 21-year-old Racine man was arrested after he broke into the Primrose Assisted Living Apartments and sprayed a fire extinguisher in the hallway early Monday morning.

Deion M. McMorris was arrested for burglary, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct and obstructing the police, according to a press release by the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

Residents reported seeing “heavy smoke” in the hallway. When officers arrived, they saw McMorris trying to flee the scene on foot. After a short chase, they caught him and arrested him.

Police learned that McMorris broke a glass door on the west side of the building with a rock, and entered the building. He took a fire extinguisher and sprayed the hallway. When he left, he took the fire extinguisher and wrote words on a car. He then dropped the fire extinguisher and ran when he saw the police.

No one was injured during the burglary. The incident is still under investigation. Mount Police believe McMorris may have been involved in another vandalism incident before this one.
