A Sturtevant man was charged after he wrote series of fraudulent checks stealing thousands of dollars, and attempting to steal thousands more.
Michael R. Gleason, 30, stole a number of checks from his former employer, Feltner’s Sewer and Drain Service in Trevor, Wis., and has been cashing them since at least Dec. 2016.
Gleason wrote more than $25,000 worth of fraudulent checks, according to a criminal complaint.
Racine County Sheriff deputies eventually tracked Gleason to a Quality Inn, 910 Sylvania Ave. When the deputies arrived, Gleason took off running in an attempt to flee, but he was eventually apprehended.
He’s charged with uttering a forgery, misappropriating identifying information to obtain money, theft and resisting arrest.
Editor’s note: This version of the story corrects that Gleason wrote more than $25,000 in fraudulent checks. Racine County Eye regrets the error.
