Ricky Brown, 20, of Racine, was charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office Monday with misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, having a dangerous weapon on school premises, and carrying a concealed weapon.
If convicted of all charges, Brown faces up to one year nine months in prison and/or fines up to $21,000.
According to the criminal complaint, Brown and another man were drinking on the playground at St. Rita’s School, 4433 Douglas Ave., during St. Rita Festival. An armed security officer approached the two men. But they both ran. The security officer found a handgun, which turned out to be a BB gun on the ground, after Brown jumped a fence.
He refused to tell the Caledonia Police his address or his friend’s name. When police asked him why he carried the bb gun, he told them he didn’t know why.
A preliminary breathalyzer test showed that Brown had a .13 blood-alcohol level.
Racine County Court Commissioner Alice Rudebusch set bail for $500. Brown is expected to have a preliminary hearing at 3:15 p.m. Sept. 15.
