One of the men accused of getting into a fight outside Coasters that left a man with a skull fracture and brain bleed last week has been charged.

Justin Majeska, 41, of Racine, was charged Thursday by the Racine County District Attorney‘s office with one felony count of battery. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and/or up to $10,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, Racine police were called Feb. 18 because a man said he was attacked outside Coasters Bar, 1301 N. Main Street. He was later diagnosed with a fractured skull and brain bleed and said he suffered pain on the right side of his ribs as well as vomiting since the assault.

Officers say the victim was approached by Majeska and another man outside the bar, and they engaged in conversation for a few minutes. Bar surveillance video depicts the second man throwing the first punch and the victim engaging in the fight. When the victim fell to the ground, the second man goes down with him and punches him repeatedly in the face. Majeska is seen kicking the victim in his upper body/head.

During questioning, Majeska told police he had between four and six drinks and didn’t remember hitting anyone, the complaint reads. When he observed himself on the surveillance tape, Majeska put his head in his hands and told police he couldn’t believe he had done anything like that.

Majeska remains in the Racine County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond and will next be in court Feb. 28 for his preliminary hearing.
