Mount Pleasant police say a 31-year-old man is facing a felony theft charge after he stole 1,140 blank recordable CDs and DVDs from Office Depot.

Thomas Friso, of Caledonia, was charged Monday in Racine County Circuit Court with one felony count of retail theft. If convicted, he faces up to 3-1/2 years in prison and/or up to $10,000 in fines. Charges were initially filed July 19, and a warrant was issued for Friso’s arrest, but the warrant was vacated when he made his initial appearance.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called June 5 to Office Depot, 2630 S. Green Bay Road, for a report of a man and woman who were in the store June 4 and stole $503.82 worth of CD-Rs and DVD-Rs:

  • 4, 25-count packs of Memorex CD-Rs worth $12.99 each
  • 4, 10-count packs of Verbatim CD-Rs worth $7.99 each
  • 2, 100-count packs of of Verbatim CD-Rs worth $29.99 each
  • 4, 100-count packs of Verbatim DVD-Rs worth $44.99 each

Friso remains in the Racine County Jail on a $200 cash bond and will next be in court Aug. 11 for his preliminary hearing.
