Racine County Sheriff’s deputies say a man is dead after he lost control of his pick-up truck and crashed into a utility pole.
According to a written release from the RCSD, deputies were called at 10:27 p.m. Friday to the 20000 block of Spring Street for a report of a pick-up truck hitting a utility pole that was laying on its side. When officers arrived, they found the man unresponsive and still seat-belted inside the vehicle.
Crews from Union Grove/Yorkville also responded to the scene and pronounced the man dead a short time later.
The victim’s name is not being released pending notification of his family.
Deputies believe the man was traveling westbound when he lost control of the truck. He slid across the roadway and into the ditch, causing the the truck to turn on its side. The truck kept sliding until it hit the utility pole and came to a stop.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and it is unknown at this time if alcohol played a role in the accident.
