A 60-year-old man from Winneconne found dead Wednesday morning in his truck at the Racine Marriott has been identified.
Mount Pleasant Police Sgt. Eric Relich confirmed the man’s name was William J. Vanberkum.
MPPD and South Shore Fire were called at about 10:30 a.m. for a report of a man in a truck in the parking lot of the hotel.
Vanberkum was deceased and police believe he was there for several days. The cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Relich confirmed Vanberkum was from Winneconne, and a missing person report for him was filed on May 22.
Police released the man’s name after his family was notified.
