Racine police say a man was shot Sunday morning near Jefferson Lighthouse Elementary and the roads are blocked while they investigate the scene.

Racine Police Department investigator Rick Toeller said the call came in at 11:11 a.m. Sunday for a report of a man shot at the corner of 6th and Jones Streets.

The man was apparently going to see a friend of his, and he was shot. A woman named Priscilla told Racine County Eye that her friend was the one injured, and he was in surgery Sunday afternoon at Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary’s.

Police do have a suspect in custody, and they do not believe this was gang-related but stemmed from family trouble. The investigation is on-going.
