UPDATE: A Union Grove woman is being held on $50,000 cash bond for attempted second-degree intentional homicide after she allegedly shot her husband early Tuesday morning.

The Racine County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the incident, which is being called a domestic situation that happened at 12:05 a.m. at an apartment building located at 1400 West St.

A witness told investigator’s that Konrad Madeja and his wife Phyliss Madeja had been verbally and physically fighting when Phyliss shot Konrad in the stomach. When law enforcement officials arrived on scene, Konrad was found unresponsive. He was taken to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee and is expected to recover from the injury, according to a press release by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.

Phyllis was treated and released for minor injuries at Ascension — All Saints Hospital in Racine. She is being held on a $50,000 cash bond for attempted second-degree intentional homicide.
