Mount Pleasant resident Ronald Molnar was recognized Thursday by the state Department of Corrections for helping injured victims after a rollover accident.

Molnar is a corrections program supervisor at the Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility and his actions were noted during the DOC’s annual SALUTE and Lifesaving/Valor awards during a ceremony in Madison.

According to a press release from the department, employees are nominated by their peers after “(they) have saved a person’s life, attempted to save a life, or demonstrated valor under extraordinary circumstances.”

“Every day DOC employees go above and beyond the call of duty,” said DOC Secretary Ed Wall in the release. “The individuals honored with these awards are true professionals and represent all that we strive to be here at the department and in our communities. We commend their actions and are inspired by what they have done.”

Molnar received the accolade for life saving because he “assisted victims of a vehicle rollover and provided first-aid to injured passengers,” the release reads.
