No one was injured in a small fire Monday that appears to have started in the kitchen and is under investigation.
Firefighters were called at 12:18 p.m. Monday to the 3400 block of Third Avenue after the homeowner returned home and found smoke when he opened the door.
Crews arrived and extinguished the fire and kept it contained to the kitchen. There were no injuries, and the homeowner is not displaced because the home was unoccupied and under renovation.
Racine Fire Department Lt. Scott Sorce confirmed the cause of the fire is under investigation, and the home was turned over to the homeowner.
