Mount Pleasant Administrator Kurt Wahlen’s contract with the village will be the topic of discussion Friday when the Personnel Committee meets in closed session.
The meeting was not originally scheduled this week and normally takes place the third Thursday of every month, but Trustee Gary Feest – a member of the committee – realized that Wahlen’s contract expired last month and hadn’t been officially renewed.
Trustee John Hewitt and Village President Jerry Garski are also on the Personnel Committee.
Wahlen was hired in May 2013 during a board meeting at which former Trustee Don Schulz, Feest and Garski – who was a trustee at the time – objected to the way his candidacy was presented by then President Mark Gleason. Wahlen was given a two-year contract with a one-year review, and a new two-contract in 2014.
The agenda for the meeting lists only the closed session and “Administrator Contract Clarification” as the reason for both the meeting and the closed session. Garski said village Attorney Jim Korum will be present to advise the committee, and Wahlen will be there as well.
The Personnel Committee meets at 4 p.m. Friday at Village Hall, 8811 Campus Drive. Call (262) 664-7800.
