Fire and rescue personnel from the South Shore Fire Department have responded to a fire that started at about 2 p.m. Monday at a home at 901 S. Green Bay Rd. in Mount Pleasant.
A full response, including three fire engines, are on scene. Mount Pleasant Police are closing down Highway 31 at Newman Road.
Residents evacuated the home saying that something smelled like burning plastic. Everyone inside the home has been evacuated, according to preliminary reports.
