A 53-year-old Mount Pleasant man could spend 85 years in prison after he was charged Monday with felony counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child and child enticement.

Victor L. Wright also faces a possible $100,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint:

Mount Pleasant police were dispatched April 22 to the Knight’s Inn, 1149 Oakes Road, to meet with a complainant regarding a child being touched inappropriately.

The girl told police a man she identified as the defendant had been touching her “every day.” She added she didn’t know how the long it had been happening. The girl also told police that Wright offered her cookies the day of the latest alleged incident and asked her if she wanted to go fishing the next day.

Wright allegedly told the victim to “keep it a secret.”

A police investigator said she interviewed the defendant, and he admitted having the child in his motel room and that he had touched her inappropriately.

Wright is expected back in Racine County Circuit Court on May 10 for an 8:30 a.m. preliminary hearing.
