A new face will soon be on patrol in the Village of Mount Pleasant. Eric Oertel Friday graduated from the police academy at Gateway Technical College and is expected to begin field training soon with the Mount Pleasant Police Department. MPPD made the announcement on the department’s Facebook page over the weekend. “On Friday December 12,2014 we welcomed our newest Police Officer Eric Oertel to the ranks,” the post reads. “Eric graduated from the academy and will soon embark on his new journey in field training. Congrats Officer Oertel and good luck in your field training.” Oertel is a graduate of Racine Lutheran High School.
