A shifting load inside a semi-trailer resulted in the truck tipping on its side and causing injuries to the truck driver, according to a release from Mount Pleasant Police Sgt. C. Paulson.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Mount Pleasant Police Department and South Shore Fire Department responded to the intersection of Highway 20 (Washington Avenue) and Highway 31 (Green Bay Road) for a reported rollover injury accident.
The investigation showed that a 2016 Freightliner was attempting to make a left turn onto westbound Washington Avenue from northbound Green Bay Road. The load inside of the trailer shifted, which resulted in the vehicle tipping onto its side. The driver, a 59-year-old male from New York, suffered minor injuries in the single vehicle accident.
The westbound lanes of Washington Ave. were closed for more than two hours while the scene was cleared. Other assisting agencies included the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Racine County Sheriff Department.
The operator was issued a citation for Failure to Prevent Cargo from Shifting.
