Mount Pleasant police

Mount Pleasant police are actively searching for a 25-year-old Milwaukee man after they say he beat up a woman and held her against her will before jumping naked from the apartment to elude arrest.

Officers say they answered a 911 call at 4:49 a.m. Saturday at an apartment in the 4800 block of Indian Hills. When police arrived, they could hear a woman screaming so they forced entry into the apartment.

The suspect, Gutfolane Osborne, jumped naked from the second floor balcony and fled on foot through yards in a nearby neighborhood. MPPD set up a perimeter and deployed a K9 officer, but Osborne managed to elude capture.

He is wanted on suspicion of disorderly conduct, battery, criminal damage to property, false imprisonment, and strangulation. Osborne remained at large as of Saturday night but was last seen in the area wearing grey or blue sweatpants, a white shirt and blue hat.

Police sent out automated messages to residents who live in the area to alert them to the situation, but MPPD Sgt. Shawn Lueke in a written release say the public is not in danger.

Anyone with information about Osborne’s whereabouts can leave an ANONYMOUS tip with Crime Stoppers at (262) 636-9330, via the website www.racine.crimestoppersweb.com, or by sending a text message to CRIMES (274637) and typing in TIP417 with your text message.
