Journalism. We believe it should help you live a better life.
That’s why we spend a lot less time on publishing mug shots and a lot more time helping you understand the employment market, figure out how to spend more time with friends and family with our events calendar, and what you can do to help businesses that have opened up. Make no mistake…we aren’t shy. We tackle the big stuff, like COVID and issues around race.
And if you believe in the value of journalism — that it should help, not exploit — please consider becoming a paid member of the Racine County Eye today. We can’t do this work without you.
Nonprofit Mission and Vision Statements
Mission: NAMI Racine County provides advocacy, education, support, and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.
Vision: A compassionate community where all people affected by mental illness live healthy, fulfilling lives.
Please provide a paragraph or so about what your organization does in the community. Include any recent achievements, projects, and goals.
NAMI Racine County provides support groups and education classes for individuals living with mental health conditions and their friends and family members. We advocate, at the individual, systems and legislative level for resources, to help individuals achieve recovery. We provide public education and awareness events in the Racine Community. We are promoting the
practice of compassion in the community where we can all care for each other in the prevention, early intervention, and creation of an environment where recovery occurs. This year we began the “NAMI Ending the Silence” program in local high schools to educate students and encourage them to reach out when help is needed for themselves, their friends and their family members. We will be expanding this program in the fall to additional schools as well as a version for teachers and families.
What would you like the general public to know about your organization and ways they can help/support you?
NAMI Racine County provides all of our services at no cost. All of our programs are peer-led and we welcome individuals living well with mental illness and their family members as volunteer facilitators, teachers, and
presenters. We are currently in need of young adults (ages 18-35) living with mental illness to be trained as presenters for our “Ending the Silence” program. NAMI Racine County welcomes all who share our mission and
vision to become a member of our organization and join our voice in creating a compassionate community where all individuals live healthy, fulfilling lives
