City of Racine – Racine Mayor Cory Mason and the Belle City Biergarten is excited to announce the dates for the inaugural beirgarten season in the City of Racine. The biergarten program will be taking place five separate weekends over the course of the summer. Lakeview Park, 201 Goold St, will host four weekends and Island Park, 1700 Liberty St, will host one weekend.
The Belle City Biergarten, in partnership with the City of Racine Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Department, will feature live music on Friday and Saturday evenings, stops from local food trucks, lawn games, outdoor movies, and other activities.
The schedule for the Belle City Biergarten is as follows:
- June 20-23
- July 11-14
- August 8-11
- August 29-September 1
- June 27-30
Hours of operations for the biergartens are:
- Thursdays 5-9 p.m.
- Fridays 4-9 p.m.
- Saturdays 12-9 p.m.
- Sundays 12-7 p.m.
The beers being served will include various selections from local distributor CJW. They will include Miller Lite and a selection of craft beers from various breweries including Leinenkugel’s and Lakefront Brewery.
The biergarten grand opening event will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 21st at Lakeview Park with a celebratory toast and pouring by City of Racine Mayor Cory Mason.
“I encourage city residents come join us for the grand opening at Lakeview Park on the 21st. We can kick off summer right with close friends and an ice cold Wisconsin beer,” said Mayor Mason.
Additionally, the Belle City program has partnered with What’s Up Racine, a local non-profit group that aims to make Racine a destination city through events and initiatives aimed at young professionals, students, creatives and entrepreneurs. What’s Up Racine will be hosting mixers, activities, and events at each of the biergarten weekends. The organization will also benefit with a portion of proceeds from the biergarten going towards their local programming efforts.
“In my first budget, I made a commitment to investing in our parks. Launching biergartens in two great locations is part of that commitment,” said Mayor Cory Mason. “Residents can now take a Saturday to go to the beach, visit the zoo, and then stop by the beirgarten just across the street at Lakeview Park to enjoy a brew, live music, and games.”
Belle City Biergarten, operated by Hop Heads Hospitality & Events, was created in conjunction with the City of Racine Parks and Recreation Department to provide a unique community gathering spot for the city and draw families back into the city parks. Hop Heads Hospitality & Events also operates the Franksville Craft Beer Garden.
“Our primary focus has always been community building,” explained Hop Heads’ co-owner Ken Michel, Jr., “A biergarten is a catalyst for bringing neighbors together and making new friends.”
