The City of Racine is looking for a few good non-profit agencies to administer the Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) program for veterans who are at risk for becoming homeless.

RFPs (request for proposals) will be issued Wednesday for groups interested in taking on TBRA, a story in The Journal Times reads.

Several large state and federal agencies are expected to partner with the city to help keep veterans who are in danger of being homeless from actually becoming so:

  • National League of Cities
  • U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
  • U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
  • U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness

“Veteran homelessness is not an intractable social problem that can’t be solved,” Mayor John Dickert is quoted as saying.
