UPDATE 5:15 p.m.: Officials with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department are opening the northbound lanes of Interstate 94 at Highway 20, but a full closure of northbound lanes at Highway G will remain in effect.
The department had to close those lanes following a car crash that happened about 2 p.m. on Interstate 94 at Ryan Road in Milwaukee County, according to a press release by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.
“Motorists are urged to utilize alternate routes of travel to avoid I-94 to include Hwy 31 and Hwy 45,” the press release reads. “I-94 northbound will continue to remain closed at Hwy G with an estimate of reopening at midnight.”
Vehicles are exiting northbound at Hwy G. They will need to follow traffic officer directions to 27th St. Drive north on 27th St to Ryan Rd. East on Ryan Rd to access I-94 north.
Southbound lanes within Racine county remain unaffected.
Officials are asking the public to please drive safely and use caution during this event.
