Surrounded by his loving family, Dr. L. Joel Neumann, 81, passed away Monday at Willowcrest Nursing Home. He was born in South Milwaukee, February 24, 1935, son of the late Peter and Rodella (Nee: Pfeffer) Neumann.

On Aug. 18, 1956 he was united in marriage to Arleen Bureta. Joel opened his dental practice in 1960 serving the Racine community for over forty-five years, retiring in 2005. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and had a great love for German Shorthaired Pointers. Above all he cherished time spent with his family.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Arleen; his children, Peter (Kathy) Neumann, Dr. Larry (Lorraine) Neumann, Michael Neumann (Patrice Grunewald), all of Racine, Kathleen (Jeff) Scott of Reedsburg; his six grandchildren, Daniel, Gretchen, Brandon, LJ, Matthew, Sam; his great grandson, Aiden; brother, Kenneth (Rosemary) Neumann of Butternut, WI; sister, Diane (John) Mann of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his niece, Melissa Mann.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Maresh-Meredith Funeral Home on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Health Care Network Inc., 904 State Street, Racine, WI 53404 have been suggested.
