Former Sturtevant resident Laurel Gehrig, 92, has passed away. She was living in Ripon at the time of her death.

An obituary notice in the Ripon Commonwealth Press lists the date of her death as April 22.

Neighbors from Laurel’s neighborhood in Sturtevant still refer to her old home as “Laurel’s house” even though another family is filling it with their memories.

“Laurel was a greatly loved community member,” Theresa Ailes told Racine County Eye. “She was an active member of Saint Sebastian’s Catholic Church for many years, and when I hear people refer to her old house as Laurel’s house.”

Laurel will be laid to rest at a later date at West Lawn Memorial Park on Washington Avenue.
