Mount Pleasant police, law enforcement friends and family, and the greater Racine area are mourning the passing of MPPD K9 Officer Bones.

He passed away Friday with his partner of ten years, Officer Dale Swart, by his side. Bones was 11-1/2 years old.

Bones retired earlier this year after 10 years of service with the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

Sympathy messages were left on the Racine K-9 Unit’s Facebook page.

Condolences to Officer Swart and his family on the passing of K-9 Officer Bones. Job well done. RIP,” Tami Trombley Michalak wrote.

Swart is grateful for the condolences.

“Everyone knew him, and he will be missed,” he said.
