James A. Novak passed in peace March 15th, 2016. Born July 7th, 1926, James (Jim) Novak was a lifelong resident of Caledonia, Wisconsin until moving in January to Meadowmere/Mitchell Manor in Oak Creek.

Preceded in death by his son, William James Novak and siblings, Vincent C. Novak and Mary Svoboda. Survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley A. Novak (currently of Mitchell Manor, Oak Creek); sons, Alan (Connie) of Credit River Township, MN, Brian (Julaine) of New Brighton, MN and Kevin (Cheryl) Novak of Caledonia, WI; daughter-in-law, Kathryn Novak of Racine; and 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Jim graduated from Horlick High School and served in the Navy before earning an engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He assumed the family business, Novak Appliance, with his brother Vincent and served the Racine community as businessman for 40 plus years until his retirement in 1990. Throughout his career and retirement Jim served on numerous committees and organizations including Council President at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He was founding member of the Racine Vocational Ministry (RVM) serving two terms as President, and was a tireless and passionate advocate for RVM and its clients.

His years in business and his willingness to give back through his work in community organizations resulted in many lasting friendships. Jim was an avid pilot and loved the outdoors and pursued his passions of friends and family, fishing and flying whenever possible. He touched many lives with his humility, generosity, and kindness, and we will forever miss his smile, laughter, and his gentle and caring touch.
