Shirley J. Odell, age 88, passed away Thursday at her residence.  She was born in Racine, June 16, 1928 daughter of the late Nels and Myrtle (Nee: Albrecht) Sorenson.  

Shirley graduated from Wm. Horlick High School and went on to earn a certificate from the National Institute of Cosmetology.  She was employed as a secretary in various manufacturing offices in Racine.  Shirley loved music and had served as church organist and choir director in different Racine area churches.

Shirley took great pride in maintaining her home and yard. She received a beautification award from the city of Racine for her efforts.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Kevin Milaeger; grandson, David (Elsa) Milaeger; and Ajax the cat.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Odell.

Private services will be held.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Wm Horlick High School for funding Scholarships have been suggested.  

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mark DeCheck, Dr. Michael Mullane, and Hospice Alliance for their loving and compassionate care.
