With her family by her side, Trinidad “Trini” Cruz, 65, passed away on Saturday at Froedtert Lutheran Memorial Hospital. Trinidad was born in Milwaukee on July 22, 1950, daughter of the late Salvador and Angeline (nee: Caravello) Gonzalez.

Trinidad graduated from Greenfield High School “Class of 1968”. Furthering her education, she attended Racine Dominican College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she received multiple degrees in Journalism and Mass Communications. She was employed as a copy editor with the Racine Journal Times before embarking on her most important job, which was raising her family. Later in life, when her four children were old enough, Trini attained her teaching certification from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and started a new career with Racine Unified. She educated many young minds for years at Janes Elementary, later at Julian Thomas and lastly at SC Johnson School. Trini was a longtime member of St. Rita Catholic Church. An avid reader and writer, Trini also enjoyed cooking, was a fan of the show “Ellen” and was always ready to win in the game of Scrabble. Above all, it was her family whom she loved more than anything.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Domingo (Sylvia) Cruz III, Angelina Cruz, Pablo Cruz, Carlos Cruz; grandchildren, Alessandro, Logan and Andres; sisters, Gloria (Ron) Weisflog, Lola (Harvey) Wagner, Jeanne (Marc) Micklas, Patricia (Al) White, Gail Chan; aunts, Trini (Don) Esqueda, Mary Figueroa and uncle Leo Barajas; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
