First name*:

Answer: Phil

Last name*:

Answer: DeHahn

Age:

Answer: 58

Address:

Answer: 5324 Norman Street, Mount Pleasant

How long have you lived in the community:

Answer: Lifetime

What position are you running for?*:

Answer: Racine County Board Supervisor 5th District

Have you ever held an elected office position before?* Yes or No

Answer: No

If so, what position(s) were you elected to?*:

Answer: N/A

In thinking about your election bid, what top three issues need to be addressed?*:

Answer: Better Employment opportunities for Residents. Better Healthcare access to Seniors, the working poor. Opportunities for Advanced Education for Youth and Adults. Resolving issues and concerns with fairness

How would you plan to address those issues?*:

Answer: I hope to address them in a conservative manor, but Technology training in schools does need to always be looked at and updated. I wish that Our past and Future will be preserved and protected- that private institutions have to uphold the same if not higher standards than the government. And, in speaking with people in the community, I hope we all emphasize the importance of improving our community – it takes heart, personal investment, education and value. And just maybe other issues might be of more importance as in meeting with Board members to take precedence, but these are on my mind. But as in my own situations. I have done self evaluations, how can I improve myself financially for instance: Working on a better credit rating, house being more efficient- lowering energy costs, put money to go else where, refinancing to lower interest rates, paying bills on time, setting goals, comparing prices, getting 3 bids or more before a decision on a purchase. So, I hope to work with Workforce Development, Age and Disability Resource Center and Schools to work on those issues as well as others

In reference to those issues you have identified, what would success look like to you in making an impact?*:

Answer: Lower crime rates, higher home values, happier people moving into the community, not out, more people volunteering their time, talents and knowledge on growing our community with good values, effort.

Why are those issues important to you?*:

Answer: We have taken care of relatives and visit with others in the community that have been in nursing homes, day cares- well they are not all to the same standard of living, but I believe some not to meet the minimum of care either. And it is important to get a better education, this is not the 1970’s where you could go from 1 factory to another and in a month be an insured employee with healthcare, vacation, etc. and still go home by 4 pm, if the shift fits. Those days may be gone, but for the health of our community we should see an importance to have a personal investment in it. In all of my volunteer efforts and work, I have always felt better at the end of the day of helping and felt I got more out of it, based on my efforts I put in.

At the end of your term, what would you like to have accomplished?*:

Answer: As much as I can to help our community grow in a positive way. A fair government, progress in education, I think some things need to be less of a discussion and more doing and other items need to be looked at from both sides, and weigh out the pros and cons before a decision is made. But by all means we should move forward, and I believe we need to promote more volunteering in our community. A little more Pride in Our Community goes a long way!

Why should people vote for you?*:

Answer: I was told, if you really want something done, ask Phil DeHahn he will get it done. I do try hard to keep my conservative values in place. I would treat your money like mine, not willing to make poor investments, always working with people to help try and save money. I will do my best to make a difference, a better community. My Construction Background, factory experience and other community experience will give me a better view in making good choices. I am not a letter or questionnaire type person. I know what it is like to work toward being an Eagle Scout and never get there, but I do also know what it takes to get there! I know what it takes to be a servant to the community and what it takes to be your next Racine County Board Supervisor of the 5th District! Thank you.

What is your educational background?*:

Answer: High School:St. Catherine’s, Gateway Technical College: Machine Shop, CNC, 5 year Construction Electrician Apprenticeship with the I.B.E.W Local 430, continued Education at Gateway, MATC, I.B.E.W. and O.S.H.A

What civic organizations do you belong to?

Answer: Boy Scouts of America, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints ,I.B.E.W Local 430
