DSW Shoes opened its first Racine County story on April 16 to big crowds that didn’t show any signs of diminishing Saturday.

The store shares the former Pick n’ Save space with Hobby Lobby at 2406 S. Green Bay Road and measures 17,000 square feet.

Kris Kraner, DSW spokesperson, told The Journal Times there are 21,000 pairs of shoes in the store and confirmed there are 30 new employees.

Most of the space is dedicated to women’s shoes, handbags and accessories, but the men’s selection isn’t bad. There was more than enough variety for both genders and plenty of stock in multiple sizes.

Traffic Saturday was brisk, but the lines moved fast with the help of a mobile check-out in the middle of the women’s section.

DSW is open seven days a week; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Call (262) 456-3334.
