A Racine man has been charged with felony theft after police say he repeatedly altered prices at Dick’s Sporting Goods to give some people incredible deals on expensive merchandise.
Tyler J. Kamakian, 21, remains out of custody on a signature bond.
The criminal complaint filed against him this week in Racine County Circuit Court states that loss prevention staff noticed discrepancies in the golf department where Kamakian worked. In an interview with loss prevention staff, Kamakian reportedly admitted to stealing food and drinks from the store and helping friends and regular customers receive marked-down prices on items that were not on sale.
Specifically, the complaint states, he admitted re-gripping his own clubs for free, and doing the same for friends and customers. He said he would also mark down iron sets and switch labels on golf drivers before taking the customer to a cashier who was not knowledgeable about the equipment.
The reported loss to the store was about $4,420.
