Mount Pleasant police say a 17-year-old girl from Milwaukee is facing felony charges after fleeing from a hit-and-run accident Friday night and trying to eat the marijuana she had with her.

Officers were called at 7:01 p.m. to the 4400 block of Spring Street for a report of a hit-and-run accident. When police arrived, the driver of the car that was hit said she was rear-ended while traveling east on Spring Street. As a result, she lost control of her car and ended up in the front yard of a home. The children suffered minor injuries.

The occupants of the offending vehicle fled in different directions, but they were apprehended at the Walgreen’s on the corner of Spring and Highway 31. The driver – a 17-year-old girl from Milwaukee – was found in a nearby apartment building.

Police say the driver had been seen driving fast going eastbound on Spring Street before she caused the accident. She had marijuana in her possession and tried to eat it but later vomited it up.

The driver was booked into the Racine County Jail on two counts of felony 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety and one count of hit and run causing injury.
