A Milwaukee man stopped in Caledonia for speeding, was found to be drunk and to have a loaded gun near him in the car, according to court records.
Kyle B. Wishau, 29, is charged with his second drunken driving offense and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
The criminal complaint filed against him in Racine County Circuit Court states that an officer on patrol near 3 Mile Road and Douglas Avenue saw a vehicle going 56 mph in a 35 mph zone. The officer went to stop the vehicle, but reported the driver kept going and started to go toward the center line. As the driver corrected that, he began to fishtail, then slowly continued about one block before stopping.
The officer reported smelling intoxicants coming from the driver, identified as Wishau. He was unable to successfully perform field sobriety tests, according to the complaint, and when the officer searched the vehicle, he found an open can of Miller Lite in the center console and a .45-caliber handgun in the driver’s side door.
The gun had one round in the chamber and another in the magazine.
