Racine police say a 33-year-old man tried to hide between his butt cheeks the crack cocaine he was selling out of his apartment.
According to the criminal complaint, police on June 17 executed a no-knock search warrant on an apartment in the 1000 block of Grand Avenue. When officers came through the back door, two individuals – one of which was identified as Cheeks – tried to flee out the front door but were stopped by additional police.
Officers say while they searched Cheeks subsequent to his arrest he tried to get away from them because he was hiding between his butt cheeks 15.5 grams of crack cocaine is 20 separate baggies. Police also search Cheeks’ apartment and found $730 in cash on the kitchen table.
During questioning, Cheeks told police he was unemployed and selling the drugs to not only support his habit but also pay his bills, the complaint reads. Investigators say Cheeks appeared too healthy to be a crack addict, and they didn’t find any crack paraphernalia around his place. Text messages on his cell phone included details of drug sales in the area around Cheeks’ apartment building.
Cheeks remains in the Racine County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond. He will next be in court June 30 for his preliminary hearing.
