A Racine man is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, maintaining a drug trafficking place and possession of a firearm by a felon following a Friday SWAT Team search of his apartment.
Racine police investigators had come to believe there was ongoing drug trafficking out of the apartment near Uptown. Mydrell Smith was home when officers searched his apartment; they took him into custody afterward.
SWAT team members went into the home during the no-knock search, and inside a bedroom, according to the criminal complaint, found a box containing two firearms and a large quantity of marijuana. The marijuana was packaged for resale, police reported.
They also found $2,105, a digital scale, ammunition, plastic sandwich baggies, a cell phone and marijuana grinder.
During a conversation with officers, Smith reportedly did not state the items found belonged to him, but did say they did not belong to the other person who lives at the apartment, or anyone else.
The marijuana weighed 133.2 grams – about a quarter of a pound.
