The area’s newest retirement community welcomed its first residents earlier this year but had its official ribbon-cutting Thursday.

Primrose Retirement Community, 1775 N. Newman Road, in Mount Pleasant, consists of 84 total units that include townhomes and apartments for independent living as well as assisted living, a story in The Journal Times reads.

The new community is designed for adults age 55 and up, is pet-friendly and offers a number of high-end amenities like a dining room with meals prepared by an on-site chef, a pub, theater room and exercise facility, the story continues. There is a nurse on-site and on duty at all times.

Rents at Primrose are as follows:

Independent living: 1-bedroom apartments run $2,695 per month; 2-bedroom apartments go for $2,895 per month; and townhomes rent for $3,095 per month.

Assisted living base prices are based on the level of care needed: 1-bedroom units rent for $3,595 per month, and 2-bedroom apartments rent for $3,795 per month.
