The FourthFest of Greater Racine is hosting the 80th Racine 4th of July Parade, which will feature 117 entries including the Iwo Jima Float, military heroes, marching bands and giant overhead balloons.

The parade will begin at 9 a.m. Monday after the pre-parade, which steps off at 8:30 a.m. The two and 1/2 mile long route takes about two hours to complete.

The theme of the 2016 Fourth of July parade: Celebrating 80 years of the greatest parade on earth. One of the largest homecoming celebrations in the country, the parade includes families, schools, groups and businesses.

The 3rd annual Parade of Planes, which features local plans flying along the shoreline at 7 p.m. Monday. Festival Foods and Boucher Automotive is sponsoring the fireworks, which will kick off at dusk. An ideal spot to watch both events is North Beach.

“We wanted to do something special for our 80th anniversary,” said David Maack, Fourth Fest Vice President, “We do not think anyone will walk away disappointed.”
