A Racine boy scout leader is in serious condition Saturday with a severe head injury after an accident in Shawano County involving two vehicles transporting boy scouts from local Troop 225.

The Green Bay Press-Gazette is reporting that 12 scouts were in two vehicles – one of which was pulling a trailer – when the accident happened at 9:55 a.m. Saturday on Highway 29 in Shawano County.

Police told the newspaper that the driver of the first SUV was pulling the trailer when he swerved and over-corrected and lost control. The second SUV hit the first, and both rolled off the road.

The driver of the first SUV was taken by helicopter to HSHS St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay because of his head injury. The children who were injured were taken to nearby hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, the story continues.

Sources close to the troop say the boys were released by Sunday morning and were on their way home with their parents and/or volunteers.
